Notification Preferences

Notification Preferences

Control which notifications you receive via email and in-app. preparAItor uses a simple model: two channels (Email and In-App), three categories per channel, and a small set of critical messages that always ride through.

Accessing Notification Settings

Go to Settings > Notifications.

The model at a glance

Each channel (Email, In-App) has a master on/off switch plus three category toggles:

  • Transactional — confirmations for actions you took
  • Reminders — time-sensitive nudges about your account
  • Marketing & Updates — product announcements (off by default)

Turn off a category to stop that whole group; turn off the master switch to silence the entire channel.

Email Notifications

Toggle the Email Notifications master switch to enable or disable all email notifications. When enabled, you can control each of the three categories individually.

Transactional

Confirmations for something you just did:

  • Document generation complete or failed
  • Feedback submission received (a thank-you confirmation)
  • Password change confirmations

Low volume, high signal. We recommend leaving this on.

Reminders

Time-sensitive nudges about state in your account:

  • Low-credit warnings — when your balance drops below 20% of your total available credits
  • Upcoming payment reminders
  • Subscription-status emails (upgrade, downgrade, cancellation confirmation)
  • One-time package expiry warnings — 7 days and 1 day before the package ends

These are the most common category and help you avoid surprises.

Marketing & Updates

Product announcements — new features, notable improvements. Off by default. We don't send "engagement" emails or generic promotional noise; turn this on only if you want to hear about new capabilities.

In-App Notifications

In-app notifications are delivered through the notification bell in the navigation bar. The in-app side mirrors the email side with its own three sub-toggles, so you can control each category independently from your email preferences.

The in-app feed typically surfaces:

  • Generation completed or failed
  • Low-credit warnings
  • Billing events

In-app items are transient — they clear when read. Emails are the durable record.

Transactional, Reminders, Marketing (In-App)

Same three categories as email, with the same meaning. Toggle each one on or off to match how much you want to see inside the app.

Critical notifications (can't be disabled)

For security and legal reasons, a small set of messages is sent regardless of your preferences:

  • Password change confirmations
  • Email verification and email-change verification
  • Payment receipts (required for tax records)
  • Payment failure and grace-period warnings
  • Account deletion confirmation
  • System maintenance notices
  • Data-deletion warnings for generation history, tracker entries, and interview sessions
  • One-time tier expired notices when a one-time package actually ends and the account falls back to Free

If you don't want these, the right answer is to delete your account.

What we don't send

A few things people sometimes ask about:

  • Follow-up reminders from the tracker — we don't email you about follow-up dates you set. The due date appears as a badge on the tracker entry only.
  • Cloud sync failure emails — sync errors surface only on the generation's in-app sync status; no email is sent.
  • Digest emails — every notification is per-event. If you want fewer emails, turn off categories you don't need.
  • Mobile push notifications — preparAItor is a web app; there's no native push.

Recommended Settings

  • Keep Transactional enabled so you know when your documents are ready
  • Keep Reminders enabled — especially if you're on 30-day generation retention or using the tracker
  • Enable Marketing only if you want to hear about new features

Languages

Notifications are sent in the UI language you've selected in Settings > Preferences. English, German, French, and Italian are supported across all notification templates.
