Subscription Management Guide
Subscription Management Guide
This guide walks you through managing your preparAItor subscription, understanding the credit system, adjusting your billing, and handling upgrades or cancellations.
Understanding the Credit System
preparAItor uses a unified credit pool. You receive a monthly allocation of credits and decide how to spend them:
- Job Analyzing (10 credits) -- parse and extract job posting details
- CV Analyzing (15 credits) -- parse your CV into structured data
- Document Generation (50 credits) -- generate all your application documents
- Interview Practice (150 credits) -- AI interview simulation with 20 exchanges and scored summary (Pro and Premium only)
Monthly credit allocation: Free 150, Starter 750, Pro 2000, Premium 4000.
Monthly vs. Purchased Credits
Every plan includes a monthly credit pool. Monthly credits reset at the end of every monthly usage period — even if you bill quarterly or semi-annually. The usage period is always monthly. Unused monthly credits do not roll over.
Credits you purchase separately (one-time packages) never expire and are only consumed after your monthly allotment is used up. They survive upgrades, downgrades, and cancellation.
Even the free tier provides a small number of credits each month so you can try the platform before committing to a plan. See the pricing page for current details on what each tier includes.
Choosing a Plan
preparAItor offers several subscription tiers designed for different levels of job-search activity. Rather than listing specific prices or feature breakdowns here -- which may change -- we recommend visiting the pricing page for the most up-to-date plan comparison.
When deciding, consider:
- How many applications you send per month (determines generation credits needed).
- How often you update your CV (determines CV analysis credits needed).
- How many job postings you analyse (determines job analysis credits needed).
- Which output formats and features matter to you.
The pricing page shows exactly what is included in each plan so you can make an informed choice.
Billing Periods
You can choose from three billing periods, each offering a larger discount for a longer commitment:
| Billing Period | Discount |
|---|---|
| 1 month | -- |
| 3 months | 10% off |
| 6 months | 20% off |
We don't offer a 12-month plan — we're built so you shouldn't need us that long.
You can switch to a longer billing period (e.g. monthly to quarterly, or quarterly to semi-annual) at any time from your billing settings, and the discount applies from the next charge. Switching to a shorter period is not available during an active subscription — cancel, wait for the current period to end, and resubscribe with the shorter cadence.
One-time tier packages are also available if you prefer a fixed-duration plan (1, 3, or 6 months) with no auto-renewal. They use the same discount structure as recurring cycles and simply expire at the end of the period. We send expiry-reminder emails 7 days and 1 day before the package ends.
One-time credit packages are also available if you prefer not to change your plan but need additional credits for a busy period. See the pricing page for current package options.
Managing Your Subscription
New purchases and recurring upgrades start from the Pricing flow. Ongoing subscription management happens from the dedicated Billing page in the app and from Manage Billing actions on the Dashboard, which open Stripe's Customer Portal.
What You Can Do There
- View your current plan, credit balances, and next renewal date.
- Upgrade to a higher plan.
- Switch to a longer billing period.
- Purchase additional credit packages.
- Access the Stripe Customer Portal to update payment details, view invoices, or download receipts.
Upgrading
When you upgrade to a higher plan, the new features and credit allotments become available immediately. You will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing cycle, and your original renewal date is preserved. Your bank may prompt 3D Secure (SCA) during the upgrade — this is a standard European payment-authentication step.
Upgrading a One-Time Package
If you have an active one-time tier package (1, 3, or 6 months), you can upgrade it at any time before it expires. Three variants are supported:
- Upgrade the tier (e.g., Pro 1-month → Premium 1-month)
- Extend the duration (e.g., Pro 1-month → Pro 6-month)
- Upgrade both (e.g., Pro 1-month → Premium 6-month)
An upgrade replaces your current package with a brand-new package starting today. Your new package runs for the full new duration, and the unused days of your current package are credited against the new package price.
Worked example: you're 12 days into a 30-day Pro package and upgrade to the Premium 6-month package. The 18 unused days of your current package are credited against the new package price. Your new Premium 6-month package starts today and runs for six months.
You cannot switch to a shorter duration or to a lower tier. For those changes, let your current package expire and start fresh. Before confirming, you'll see a clear breakdown showing the new package price, the credit for unused days of your current package, and the total charge today.
Downgrading
The current product is stricter here than the older docs. There is no direct self-service downgrade to a lower paid tier during an active recurring subscription.
If you want to move down to a lower paid tier, or to a shorter billing cadence, the supported path is:
- Cancel the current subscription.
- Keep using the current plan until the paid period ends.
- Subscribe again after expiry on the lower tier or shorter cadence you want.
Purchased one-time credits are preserved across that process. If you have already consumed more than the lower tier would have allowed for the current monthly usage period, the overage is reconciled against your purchased credits when the lower-tier state takes effect.
Failed payments
If a renewal charge fails, your account enters a 24-hour grace period — your benefits continue while we retry the charge and notify you by email. Update your card from the Billing page or Dashboard via Manage Billing (which opens the Stripe Customer Portal). If the payment is not recovered within the grace period, the subscription is cancelled and your account reverts to the Free tier; any purchased credits remain in your balance.
Credit Packages
If you run low on credits mid-cycle, you can purchase one-time credit packages without changing your plan.
Key points about purchased credits:
- They never expire -- use them whenever you need them.
- They are consumed after your monthly allotment is depleted (the system handles this automatically).
- They are available to every plan, including Free.
- They survive upgrades, downgrades, and cancellation — the credits stay in your balance and remain usable as a Free-tier user on actions your plan allows.
- Four sizes are offered (names and prices current at time of writing; see the pricing page for the latest):
- Quick Boost — 150 credits
- Active Pack — 600 credits
- Hunt Mode — 1,000 credits
- Mega Pack — 2,000 credits
Payment
preparAItor processes all payments through Stripe. Card-based checkout is supported directly, and Stripe may offer additional regional payment methods depending on your location and its current configuration.
- All transactions are secured with SSL encryption and handled by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
- preparAItor does not store your card details directly.
- You can view and download invoices at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal, accessible from the app's Billing page or the Dashboard.
Cancellation
You can cancel a recurring subscription at any time from the app's Billing page or from the Dashboard via Manage Billing. Here is what happens when you cancel:
- You retain access to all plan features until the end of your current billing period.
- Your monthly credits stop renewing after the period ends.
- Any purchased credits remain in your account and never expire -- you can still use them even after cancellation.
- You can resubscribe at any time to restore monthly allotments and plan features.
There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts.
